PRESS RELEASE

In short: Keystone socket in a compact, very short design

Panduit has launched a shielded Keystone RJ45 jack

Frankfurt am Main, 27 June 2025. Panduit has introduced its new, compact RJ45 keystone modules for Cat 6 and Cat 6A applications. These modules can be easily integrated into standard keystone jacks from a variety of switch manufacturers, providing the necessary connectivity for the increasingly demanding requirements of building cabling. The quality of the connection between the jack and the cable is critical to network performance. This is why Panduit tests each of its new shielded keystone jacks and the entire NetKey system with 2,500 insertion cycles, rather than the minimum of 750 cycles required by IEC 60603-7. The insertion loss must also be below the limits defined in TIA-568.2-D.

According to ANSI/TIA-568 and ISO 11801, the SKJ6X88BL jack from Panduit exceeds the channel requirements of Category 6A and Class EA at variable frequencies up to 500 MHz. It also meets the channel and component performance requirements of ANSI/TIA-568.2-E Category 6A and ISO 11801 Class EA at these frequencies. Panduit backs this up with a 15-year system warranty when installed correctly. The new Panduit jack operates reliably within a temperature range of -10 to +75 °C. Each individual socket is tested and marked with a unique serial number. In conjunction with Panduit's standard quality control number, this enables full traceability in the event of a fault. The shielded module has an integrated 360° shielding contact which eliminates the need for additional installation steps. It is also important for international customers that the module is listed as an accessory for communication cabling in accordance with UL 1863. Additionally, the socket complies with the Canadian CSA standard C22.2 and UL 2043's strict fire safety regulations for use in suspended ceilings that serve ventilation purposes.

The RJ45 keystone jack from Panduit is extremely reliable and easy to maintain, as well as being modular. Compatible with PoE (Power over Ethernet) and Power over HDBaseT applications, it can deliver up to 100 W to each. Thanks to its low installation depth of just 30 mm, it is ideal for installation in hollow wall boxes, flush-mounted boxes, parapet ducts and flat raised floors.

Panduit Keystone RJ45 jacks consist of a high-strength thermoplastic housing, an IDC (insulated displacement connector) and a front RJ45 plug, all of which comply with IEC 60603-7. Network experts recommend using twisted pair cables of Cat 6A or Cat 7 categories for use with Keystone jacks, in accordance with IEC 61156-5. Installation must be carried out in accordance with EN 50174-1/2. The defined minimum bending radii and stripping lengths must be observed.

According to ISO/IEC 11801, keystone jacks such as the SKJ6X88BL RJ45 model from Panduit are among the central components of structured building cabling systems. These jacks are used in office buildings, industrial halls, and data centres for applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and other IP-based services, high-speed internet with speeds of up to 10 GBASE-T, and out-of-band connections in data centres.
